A favorite treat for families has always been the ice cream sundae, as it is perfect for sharing!
Did you know in the 1800s there was a Blue Law on the books that made it illegal to sell soda on
Sundays? This was a big problem for those that enjoyed ice cream floats (soda + ice cream).
Pharmacies had to find another way to convince people to buy ice cream on Sundays, so they
replaced the soda with chocolate sauce. Some say that’s how it got it’s “sundae” name for
Sunday and others say it was ice cream that was left over from Sunday and sold on another
day!
