About Us

One of the top children’s museums in the nation, the Children’s Museum of Phoenix is a wondrous place of imagination, inspiration, creativity and just plain fun!

Designed for children ages birth to 10, this is not your typical Museum…here we want you to touch EVERYTHING!

And with over 48,000 square feet of space, there’s plenty to touch.

The Museum offers more than 300 play experiences, spread throughout three floors in the magnificent and historic Monroe School Building.

In addition, we offer a diverse range of classes and programs – from music and yoga, to math and science, and our Art Studio is a budding artist’s dream come true!

You can find us in the heart of downtown Phoenix on the SE corner of 7th Street and Van Buren in the historic Monroe School Building.

The Children’s Museum of Phoenix is a proud recipient of many awards!

About Our Programs

Phoenix Educational Activities for Kids!

The Children’s Museum of Phoenix is a place where children play to learn, and grown-ups learn to play.

The many developmental stages of a child – social, cognitive, physical, and emotional – have all been considered in the design of our exhibits and our programs.

This is an environment in which children can actively play and learn, taking risks when the stakes are low, learning about themselves, the world, and the people around them.

Visit our Calendar for a full listing of programs and events or email our Programs Team at programs@childmusphx.org.

Accessibility

The Children’s Museum of Phoenix is all-inclusive for the children in the greater Phoenix area and we provide barrier-free access for visitors.

Our navigation is bilingual and our staff is multilingual as well.

Service animals are welcome in the Museum, and we can provide wheelchairs with advanced notice provided.

You can request this service by calling our main number at 602.253.0501 and pressing 0.

Pal Experiences and the Children’s Museum of Phoenix have partnered to create a custom Pal Video and digital, mobile-friendly Pal Guide to support visitors with autism, anxiety, and other learning differences.

The resources are free to the public at PalExperiences.org.

You can also click this video, which will give you an idea of what to expect when you visit the Children’s Museum of Phoenix’s indoor exhibits.

Exhibits and Experiences

The Museum’s exhibits are thoughtfully designed to be unique, to arouse curiosity, and to engage the minds, muscles and imaginations of our visitors.

Open-ended, imaginative play is what we provide for all of our guests.

Let your child be the guide and enjoy the journey because the learning will be meaningful and the memories delightful at one of the best places to take kids in Phoenix.

Babies, Toddlers & Preschoolers

We all understand by now that children’s minds, especially in the 0-5 age range, are extraordinarily open to learning experiences.

Here at the Children’s Museum of Phoenix, we concentrate on these critical years of a child’s development with exhibits and programs that focus on early childhood education and school-readiness.

Place for Threes & Younger

Located on the 3rd floor of the Museum, this is a beautiful, sun-lit play space exclusively designed for the size, weight, and developmental stages of 3-year-olds and younger.

Place for Threes & Younger is the perfect place to spend bonding time with your child, visit with other caregivers with children of the same age, and watch your child socialize with some new friends.

Baby Zones

Baby Zones are located in each of our exhibits throughout the Museum and are clearly marked as such.

These areas are designed for our very youngest visitors and provide a way for families with older children to spend time together in the same exhibit space, while ensuring that the youngest in the family has a safe, playful environment to explore.

Programs

The Museum provides programs throughout the month that offer additional play and learning experiences for our youngest visitors including music, yoga and art.

See the Calendar for programs such as Brain Time for Babies, Toddlers and Preschoolers.

For parents, the Museum is a rich laboratory for learning about childhood development, early education, parent-child interactions, literacy and more.

Children, teachers, parents, grandparents and caregivers all benefit from the exhibits, from early childhood books and story times, to caregiver resource guides and partnerships with other early childhood agencies.

Amenities

The Museum environment is built with the needs of children and caregivers in mind.

Restrooms are located on each floor of the Museum, with changing tables in each, including the “boys” restrooms.

Family restrooms are located on the 1st and 3rd floors.

All restrooms are wheelchair accessible.

Nursing is permitted throughout the Museum, and a nursing snug is located on the 3rd floor for those who want privacy.

Other amenities include seating throughout the Museum, toddler-size bathroom fixtures, and bottle warmers in the 2nd floor eating area.

Camps

When school is out, send your little learner on an epic camp adventure!

Children ages 5-8 will have an unforgettable experience exploring the Museum’s imaginative exhibits, participating in hands-on activities, and building lasting friendships.
