Halloween is coming up and the City of Apache Junction Parks and Recreation wants to make your night spook-ta-cular! We will be hosting our annual Halloween Festival from 4:00-8:00pm on Saturday, October 26th. The event will take place at the Superstition Shadows Park. This event is free to attend but some activities do require purchase of a wristband/tickets. There will be lots of free activities throughout the night for the whole family including a costume contest, pumpkin carving contest, trunk or treat and more! We are bringing back our popular Trunk or Treat, sponsored by Lost Dutchman Realty! Join local businesses as they line up their vehicles and pass out handfuls of candy to all the dressed up Ghouls and Goblins! New this year will be a live performance by the teenage band Zero Reasons, a pumpkin painting and decorating area, and additional free games and activities, all sponsored by CAAFA! Wristbands/tickets are required to play games and enter the bounce house area. Our Annual Costume Contest will begin at 5pm sharp and will be divided by age groups. All ages are welcome to enter. Remember to use your imagination and be creative! Do you or your family like to carve pumpkins for Halloween? If so, bring your pre-carved pumpkin out to the park and enter our Pumpkin Carving Contest! We will judge pumpkins in four categories: Funniest, Scariest, Best Overall, and Most Original! All pumpkins must be submitted to the judging table by 6pm to be eligible to win. Back by popular demand is the Howl-o-ween Canine Costume Contest. All canines must be on a leash. This contest will begin after the conclusion of the human costume contest. Judging will be based on the following categories: Cutest Canine, Funniest Canine, Most Original Canine, and Best Group (owner & canine). Local non-profit organizations will be onsite selling food and playing games with the kids. Food and games will be available for a small fee and all money raised goes directly to the non-profit organization. This is a great way to let your kids have fun and support our community at the same time.
